This will clearly be an emotional bowl game for Virginia Tech players, fans and Frank Beamer, coaching his final game. This Hokies team is a terrific defensive team and the offense got healthy down the stretch with QB Mike Brewer returning, on a 3-1 SU/ATS run to make this bowl. After allowing more than 30 or more points four times in the first eight games, they did so only once in the last four (and it took overtime to get there). Their offense will be balanced and productive against a weak Tulsa defense. The Golden Hurricane defense allowed 5.3 per carry and even with figures corrected for sacks they came close to allowing 250 rush yards per game. And the pass defense allowed 62% completions. Only New Mexico (21) and UL Monroe (24) scored under 30 points vs. the Golden Hurricanes, and the sack ratio was a poor 21-36. Tulsa is 3-8-1 ATS in non-conference games and 1-10 ATS after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game, so look for a big win by the team sending out their beloved head coach in style. Play Virginia Tech.
