Texas State at UL Monroe

Louisiana Monroe is struggling everywhere, and riding a four-game skid. The defense has been awful, surrendering 507 yards per game (#123 in the country) and 39 points per contest. If you can't stop the run you can't contend and Monroe is dead last in the nation, allowing 297 rushing yards per game. Louisiana Monroe is on a 3-7 spread run in conference play, plus 6-15-1 ATS at home. Texas State is not as bad as its record, forced to play a pair of Top 25 teams already (Arkansas, Houston). Texas State senior QB Tyler Jones (10 TDs, six INTs) has played well. He threw for 418 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Ohio as a +17 dog and they are a very live dog again against this terrible Monroe defense. Texas State topped Monroe last season, 16-3, allowing just 83 yards passing and 98 rushing. Look for the visitors to pound the football with the run, which chews up yards and the clock.
