Rutgers scored a total of 13 points its last three games of 2017 and averaged only 18 points on the season, which was only a slight improvement from the year before when the Scarlet Knights scored 16 points per game. The defense did make a big improvement allowing 28 points per game compared to 37 in 2016. John McNulty takes over as offensive coordinator and has a big job ahead of him as the Scarlet Knights finished 120th or worse out of 130 FBS teams in first downs, passing efficiency and scoring. Rutgers also lost its top two wide receivers. A true freshman, Artur Sitkowski, will start at quarterback after looking good in spring practice. Texas State averaged 17 points per game last season and it has lost running back Anthony Smith likely for the season with a knee injury. Smith gained 352 yards on 4.8 yards per carry last year. Willie Jones III is the only quarterback with playing experience and will likely start for the Bobcats. Texas State has gone UNDER six of its last eight road games and the Bobcats will be better defensively with eight returning starters, including four on the defensive line. Take the UNDER.
