DUKE'S MAYO BOWL - South Carolina went UNDER its last two games as the defense did a good job in a 21-17 win over Auburn, but then the offense was shut down in a 30-0 loss to Clemson. The Gamecocks average only 21.3 points per game, on the season and they are #116 nationally in total yards per game. Also, QB Jason Brown entered the transfer portal. They still have Zeb Noland, but he threw for only 96 yards on 11 of 22 passing with no TDs against Clemson. South Carolina is eighth in pass defense and 44th in total yards allowed. It will be in charge of containing North Carolina QB Sam Howell, who threw for 2,851 yards with 23 TDs and nine interceptions this season. However, NC State found a way in the regular-season finale when Howell was held to 14 of 26 for 147 yards with one TD and one pick, and the Wolfpack won 34-30. The teams last met in 2019, and the game went UNDER by 18 points. The Tar Heels have stayed UNDER four of their last five vs. SEC teams, and the Gamecocks have gone UNDER six in a row in non-conference games. They are also 20-7 UNDER against ACC schools.
