This game is at a neutral site in Charlotte, North Carolina. South Carolina (9-5 SU/7-6 ATS in 2010) is loaded on both sides of the ball so Steve Spurrier will have some fun with this offense. He will have a lot of fun against this horrendous East Carolina defense that allowed 44 points per game last fall. They gave up 49, 76, 42, 62, 45 and 51 in their final six games (five losses). The 2010 Pirates were equally ineffective stopping the rush (5.3 yards per carry allowed) and the pass (8.1 yards per attempt allowed). In addition, they were unable to consistently make big plays, making just 15 sacks. They step-up in competition here against an SEC team that is loaded. South Carolina senior QB Stephen Garcia (20 TDs, 14 INTs, 3,059 yards) is joined by his top skill position players - a unit that averaged 30.9 points, 238.4 yards passing and 154.4 yards rushing. They have balance on offense because of sophomore RB Marcus Lattimore, who ran for 1,197 yards, 4.8 yards per carry as a freshman. He was one of the nation’s top running back prospects coming out of high school. The passing game returns 6-foot-4 junior WR Alshon Jeffery (1,517 yards) and junior WR Tori Gurley (465) and return as the top two targets. Six starters are back on defense, a unit that allowed 23.1 ppg. Spurrier is 19-11 ATS on the road at South Carolina, though this is a neutral site. Meanwhile the Pirates are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games. Play South Carolina.
