The SMU Mustangs needed an upset win on the road last year to salvage a one-win season, and avoid going 0-12. They certainly are not on the top of the heap amongst bettors. They are a much improved team behind emerging QB Matt Davis. Davis has been great at protecting the ball and has yet to throw an INT in 123 attempts, while also running for 380 yards and six TDs. Houston is operating in similar fashion, albeit with more success behind QB Greg Ward Jr. Ward Jr. is currently the only player in CFB to average 200+ in the air and 100+ on the ground. Houston has a good defense, but the numbers here from stat lines just don't add up to well over three TDs and the public has bet this one up to close to four TDs. The Cougars are just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 at home, and own an overall ATS mark of an ugly 5-14 in their last 19 on turf. Take the points on SMU.
