Southeastern Louisiana at Tulane

Southeastern Louisiana was blown out 48-7 by Mississippi State and 35-17 to South Alabama in its two games against FBS opponents in 2023. The Lions come off a 3-8 season when they lost their first seven games while allowing 33.4 points per game. They averaged 42.3 points in the three games they won. The Lions have a three-way quarterback competition with Eli Sawyer the likely starter as he has played in 21 games, throwing for 3,030 yards, 17 TDs and six interceptions. Tulane comes off an 11-3 season and it has a new coach in Jon Sumrall, who comes over from Troy. The Green Wave lost four-year QB starter Michael Pratt, but they brought in Ty Thompson from Oregon to compete with Kai Horton, Pratt's backup. However, Darian Mensah, who redshirted last year could be the surprise starter on Thursday. Running back Makhi Hughes won the AAC Rookie of the Year with 1,378 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
