UTSA had their bubble burst last week as they went to Rice and were beaten soundly 34-14. It was their first loss of the season, as they enter this one at 5-1. San Jose State is off to a 4-2 start. They got immediate attention in week one when they went to Stanford and almost pulled off the upset, losing just 20-17. Everything was going their way until last week at home when they stumbled vs. Utah State in a big way 49-27. This is an interesting team, because they are pretty much average or below average running the ball, stopping the run, and stopping the pass. But they are an exceptionally good passing team. QB David Fales has thrown for 1,886 yards with 12 TDs and just 3 INTs on the season. I just don't think that one element can deliver a double-digit win against a team that otherwise matches-up equally in every area. The Spartans are just 8-21 ATS in their last 29 in the conference, and 1-6-1 ATS when following a double-digit home defeat in their last eight. Play on Texas-San Antonio.
