Southern Miss at UTEP

On has to wonder about UTEP, as Army, a team that seldom finds success on the road, came in here and didn't just win, they obliterated the Miners who had been pretty good at home last year. That success has revolved around some pretty weak competition. Their last six home wins have come at the hands of New Mexico State (twice), North Texas, Rice, Incarnate Word, and Florida Atlantic. These teams were a combined 8-22 on the road in the year UTEP beat them, and add Incarnate Word to that record. Needless to say, the Miners have won some here, but it's not as good as it looks. Prior to 2012, Southern Miss had 18 consecutive winning seasons, and then the bottom fell out. They finished the 2012 season at 0-12, following with 1-11, then 3-9. Things are back to normal as they are 11-6 in their last 17 games. Southern Miss has been a great road team since the start of last season where they are 5-2 SU and 6-1 ATS. Considering the fact that they won a combined five games the previous three years, they have won five of their last seven on the road, so the program has certainly elevated itself back to what they used to be. UTEP has some "fake" home stats, and Southern Miss is superior here. Give the points and back Southern Miss.
