Navy has done some scoring early, but the attack has been diminished by graduation and the schedule has been soft early. The Middies’ offense is no secret, as they are going to pound the football, running over 85% of the time. Southern Mississippi may have something to say about that, as their stop unit has limited opponents’ ground game to 85 yards per game and just 2.3 yards per carry. Navy will gain some yardage on the ground by sheer volume, but will get enough resistance to keep them from sustaining long drives and scoring TDs. Southern Miss ranks No.11 in the country in limiting opponents’ ground attacks. The Middies now own a 16-5 mark to the UNDER when following a loss, and are 7-3 UNDER in their last 10 vs. a winning team. The Golden Eagles are bearing down on the defensive end vs. winning teams, posting a 7-3 UNDER mark in their last 10 against a .500 or better squad. The UNDER gets the call in this one.
