Southern Miss at Louisiana Tech

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are off to an impressive start at 5-1. They will take on another team off a solid start in the 4-2 Southern Mississippi Eagles. Tech went off for 69 points last game vs. the nation's worst team, UMass, so the total here appears to be bumped a bit by the oddsmakers. They have faced a lot of bad teams with poor defenses. They played Grambling and four other teams that have a combined record of 6-19 outside of their one tough game vs. Texas where they scored 14 points. The offensive numbers are very skewed by bad competition. Southern Mississippi gave up a combined 87 points to Alabama and Mississippi State and the defense is a lot better than it looks.
