Southern Mississippi at Arkansas State

This looks like a lot of points as ASU makes their first bowl appearance in some time. Yes, Arkansas State has played an easy schedule and struggled nonetheless. Southern Miss has a strong history is bowl games, but this is not the same team that went into Nebraska last season and won. The defense is still strong but does not have the playmakers they once did, and should have a hard time getting fired up to play the Indians. Big underdogs in early bowl games do well in games that are tough to call. And, we get the better rushng team. Arkansas State averaged 5 yards per rush this season behind Antonio Warren vs. defenses that gave up 4.7 per rush on average. Southern Miss on the other hand managed just 3.2 against defenses that gave up 4.0 on average. Give me the better rushing team and 17 points. Slight lean towards the Indians here and the points for one star.
