Rutgers at Army

Rutgers usually runs the football for Coach Greg Schiano, but this year's team features a great group of wide receivers in juniors Mark Harrison and Mohamed Sanu for new coordinator Frank Cignetti. The new pro-style attack better fits sophomore quarterback Chas Dodd (7 TDs, 3 INTs) and freshman QB Gary Nova (9 TDs, 7 INTs) to average 27.4 points and 236 yards passing. The defense is strong against the run and is allowing just 18.9 points per game – No. 17 in the nation. That strong run defense will come in handy against Army (3-6), tops in the nation in rushing. The problem for Army is a soft secondary and defense that has been ravaged by passing teams, giving up 49 points to Northern Illinois, 48 to Ball State, 35 to Miami of Ohio and 44 points to Vanderbilt - not exactly the top teams in the nation! This game is in Yankee Stadium and the Black Knights are 2-5 ATS in their last seven neutral-site games and are 3-13 ATS in their last 16 against the Big East. The Scarlet Knights are 7-1 ATS in their last eight meetings with Army and will roll with their air attack and tough run defense. Play Rutgers.
