The Rice Owls have really taken a big step backward. They won 10 games in 2103, eight in 2014, and just five last year. They have just one win to show for 2016, and that came against prairie View, so they are winless against FBS competition. The Owls average just 24.4 points per game, and as low as that number is there is hidden value, as they are worse than that. They scored 65 points against Prairie View, so against FBS competition they are averaging a woeful 19.4 ppg. Charlotte has exceeded expectations this season and a win here could have them at .500 and just a win short of Bowl eligibility. The offense has not been good at 26.2 ppg, and has topped the 28-point mark just once all season vs. FBS competition.
