Oklahoma State has found a quarterback in freshman Maealiuaki Smith, who is completing 73.3% of his passes. He was the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after his performance against Texas Tech last week throwing for 316 yards and two TDs. The team scored 48 points, which was the best performance of the season. Colorado is down this week after a crushing 37-21 loss to a 4-6 Kansas squad as a favorite. The defeat hurt their chances to play in the Big 12 title game. "We controlled our own destiny," coach Deion Sanders said, "and we fumbled it." The defense allowed 520 yards, including 331 rushing. The defense is 74th in the country in rush yards allowed (156.1 per game) and 62nd on third down (38.78%).
