Texas weekend is always filled with anticipation for these teams, students, fans as well as the media. It's been a very long time since a team was favored by double-digits in this contest. There is no disguise for the Sooners, as they are marked as a BCS Championship contender. Texas, after a poor campaign a year ago has another McCoy under center after Garrett Gilbert went down with a season-ending shoulder injury. Case McCoy has been special thus far; completing over 70% at over 9 yards per attempt and may actually be an upgrade. If the Sooners are vulnerable anywhere, it is on the defensive end. The Horns were a bit down defensively a year ago, but have the experience and depth to hold the Sooners’ high-octane offense in check enough to stay within shouting distance. A double-digit number is just too much. The Sooners were held to 28 a year ago vs. a much looser Horns’ defense, and they are better on both sides of the ball this time around. The Sooners struggle in competitive games at 0-5 ATS in their last five as a favorite of 3.5-10, while the Horns are hookin' 'em to a 4-1-1 ATS count in the last six meetings. Texas is the call.
