Ohio at Jacksonville State

Both schools will be without regular-season head coaches as Rich Rodriguez left Jacksonville State for West Virginia and Tim Albin abandoned Ohio to take the Charlotte job. Ohio promoted offensive coordinator Brian Smith to be its new head coach, and Rod Smith, the Mountaineers' offensive coordinator, will coach this game on an interim basis. The Gamecocks will be missing many players from the transfer portal. However, they still have the combo of running back Tre Stewart, who rushed for 201 yards and three TDs in their 52-12 trouncing of Western Kentucky in the C-USA championship game, and QB Tyler Huff, who threw for 141 yards and a TD. Jacksonville State is #2 in the country in rushing with 267.3 yards per game. Stewart has totaled 1,604 yards and 23 TDs, and Huff has run for 1,343 yards and 14 TDs in addition to throwing for 2,179 yards and 13 TDs.
