Northwestern at Iowa

Two of the weakest offensive teams of the 2016 season square off in this one. Northwestern is ranked #105 in total offense yards and Iowa is #101. The Wildcats are averaging only 16.2 points per game. The Hawkeyes have scored a combined 35 points in their last two games, including a 14-7 win at Rutgers following a 23-21 loss to North Dakota State as a 14.5-point favorite. Defensively, however, Iowa is ranked #12 in scoring defense (13.5 ppg) and Northwestern is #23 (17.0).  The Wildcats lost 9-7 to Illinois State as a 12.5-point favorite in a game that went UNDER by 28 points. That loss was after losing 22-21 to Western Michigan in their season opener. Northwestern has gone UNDER in seven of its last eight games, including all four this season. Last week's 24-13 loss to Nebraska went UNDER by 11 points. Northwestern QB Clayton Thorson has completed only 53.2 percent of his pass attempts and has thrown four interceptions. Iowa QB C.J. Beathard was 12-of-23 for 162 yards against Rutgers, and the Hawkeyes were just 3-for-11 on third down efficiency.
