Northern Illinois at Nebraska

Northern Illinois opened the season with an impressive 27-24 overtime win over Boston College before slipping back and losing 14-11 to Southern Illinois, an FCS school even while outgaining the Salukis 348-222. This brought back memories of last season when Northern Illinois lost four conference games in which it outyarded its opponent. Rocky Lombardi completed 23 of 38 for 297 yards and a touchdown, but he threw three interceptions. Nevertheless, Nebraska shouldn't be laying this many points as it is already 0-2 under new coach Matt Ruhle following a 36-14 loss to rejuvenated Colorado last week. The defense yielded 454 yards while Nebraska QB Jeff Sims was only 9 of 15 for 106 yards and no TDs with an interception. The Cornhuskers are 10-24 since 2020 and they have scored only 27 points their first two games. Nebraska is 8-2 UNDER its past 10 games and Northern Illinois stayed UNDER by 33.5 points last week.
