Texas has five starters back on offense, eight on defense, and introduces new coach Charlie Strong. Strong has talked of instilling a tough mindset in Austin since he arrived in January and it helps if a new coach gets a blowout win in his first game, especially to please the home fans. The offense will be fine, led by senior QB David Ash and a loaded backfield with junior RB Johnathan Gray (701 and 780, 4.9 yards per carry yards the last two years) and senior RB Malcolm Brown (904 yards, 4.2 ypc). And new defensive coordinator Vance Bedford has superstar talent at linebacker and loads of experience returning in the secondary behind CB Quandre Diggs and senior safety Mykkele Thompson. The Longhorns are 9-3 ATS against Conference USA and North Texas comes to town. North Texas is off a fine campaign but had an easy schedule. In their lone step-up game they got smoked by Georgia 45-21. The Mean Green has new faces at the skill positions on offense, including QB, and the team is 2-7 ATS against the Big 12. Lay the points on Texas.
