New Mexico has covered the spread the last three meetings with Air Force with two outright wins, including 47-35 last year as an 11-point underdog. The Lobos racked up 377 rushing yards on 6.7 yards per carry and outgained the Falcons 512-389 overall. Air Force appeared to have a letdown after beating Navy two weeks ago as it lost 35-26 at Wyoming as a 13.5 point favorite. The Cowboys gained 189 yards on the ground compared to 149 for the Falcons and Nate Romine was just 6-of-19 for 188 yards and two touchdowns and he was picked off three times. New Mexico lost to Boise State after beating San Jose State 48-41 the week before. The Lobos amassed 382 rushing yards on 61 carries for 6.3 yards per carry. New Mexico has covered the number nine of its last 13 after a loss and Air Force is only 6-15 ATS when following a straight-up loss. Surprisingly, Air Force (#20) and New Mexico (#50) are in the top 50 schools in total yards allowed and the Falcons are second only to Alabama by allowing only 80.2 rushing yards per game. Lobos' QB Austin Apodaca is doubtful with an injured collarbone and backup Lamar Jordan is 16-of-33 for 168 yards and a touchdown. Romine is only 27-of-65 for a 41.5 percent completion rate as the Falcons, as always, depend on the running game, which has produced 280.0 yards per game. These teams are more evenly matched than expected and the points are valuable. The Lobos are 8-3 straight-up the past three seasons after a loss and Air Force is just 25-47 straight-up in their last 72 games following a conference loss.
