Paul Johnson enters his third year at Georgia Tech. He has had many detractors, many originally feeling his option offense as having no chance in the speedy ACC. Here is year three and there is no more talk about the option that has now topped the 30-point mark 16 times in just a little over two years. Johnson-coached teams have now gone 57-37 ATS overall! He was not happy with a defense that allowed 25 points per game a year ago, so he added Al Groh to the staff, which now gives Tech three ACC Coaches of the Year on the sidelines. Josh Nesbitt is back to lead the attack after becoming just the second QB in ACC history to top the 1,000-yard mark in rushing. The Wolfpack are 3-0, but barely tested as Cincinnati simply looks like a bad team and W. Carolina and UCF not putting up much of a fight. Georgia Tech has done a great job under Johnson vs. the ACC Atlantic Division, where he is 7-0 straight-up and 5-2 ATS. NC State has not faced Georgia Tech under Johnson, so he is getting a first look at an option run by better players than Coach O'Brien saw at BC. While NC State has put up good defensive numbers (294 yards per game allowed), Tech is 9-1 ATS under Paul Johnson vs. such teams (teams that allow under 310 yards per game). Tech gets the call here.
