It is like a broken record down in Baton Rouge. The LSU Tigers feature a devastating defense, have a lot of speed on offense, a power runner, but the passing game simply is not there. It seems to allow the Tigers to be in games that they should have closed out after three quarters, but it just does not appear to be the case again this year. Considered a National Championship threat, as they are almost every year, game one vs. Wisconsin once again showed the short-comings of the offense as 14 points was not enough, and they suffered a devastating loss. Last week against Jacksonville State, they scored 27 points in the 2nd quarter, but were shutout in the 1st and 4th, and managed just seven in the 3rd. Through two games they are averaging just 129 yards in the air, and one game was vs a FCS team. Despite winning eight to 12 games every yer since 2007, where they are 91-29 SU, they are 52-64 ATS. The points matter in many of their games. Mississippi State has made a lot of progress in the SEC. They had just eight winning seasons from 1992-2009, but since then have had a winning season six straight years. They imploded in their first game at home, blowing a 13 point, 4th quarter lead to S. Alabama, but redeemed themselves with a strong 14 point win vs. South Carolina. This was a team that was 2-8 ATS as a double-digit dog prior to turning things around the last six years where they have been 8-4 ATS. This game is closer than it appears. Make the play on Mississippi State.
