BYU is desperate to find themselves a conference to play in, as they have been limited by the ranks of their current Independent status. They are a potential fit for the Big-12, but the waiting game continues. The Cougars have subsequently put together one of the strongest schedules in the country, having had five of their first six games vs. power-5 conference opponents, with the sixth vs. a very good Toledo team. They will take on their sixth power-5 conference team in seven weeks in this one and have Boise State on deck before finally getting a bye. No team in the country has faced six power-5 conference opponents up to this point, so you know this team is getting tired, and beat up. Mississippi State is just 2-3 on the season, with two of the losses by a total of four points, and can certainly compete here. BYU has played six games, and five of them have been decided by a total of 11 points as they seem to find their way down to the last play just about every week. Miss State Coach Dan Mullen has a great out-of-conference record at 30-6 SU, which includes 25-2 SU when facing a team less than .750. That bodes well here as a TD dog for the Bulldogs. Take Miss State.
