Minnesota at Purdue

The Purdue Boilermakers have seen an immediate upgrade to their level of play having brought in Brian Brohm to take over coaching. Brohm has a strong track record of success, and signs are visible he is making an impact. The problem is that there is a long way to go. While Purdue tallied 79 points and over 1,000 yards vs. a pair of cupcakes, their other two vs. much better teams saw them score 38, and gaining a combined 533 yards. Minnesota is 3-1, and has a defense that has allowed 4.9 yards per attempt in the passing game to teams that average seven. They have been considerably above normal vs. the run as well, so expect the Purdue offense to struggle. Minnesota has been very strong in the air at 8.9 yards per attempt vs. a team that averages allowing 7.2. I think that the Golden Gophers are more like the teams that held Purdue down and scored plenty than the two wins they got off much less competition. Play on Minnesota.
