This is a very physical matchup of strong defenses. While Michigan State brings in the #1 defense in the country to this game, Stanford ranks at #14. While the #14 defense sounds like one of the best in the country, the PAC-12 was loaded with offense this season, so it's even more impressive. More teams from the PAC-12 scored 50 or more points in a game (24) than any other conference in college football. So in a schedule packed with strong offenses, Stanford has an equal defense based on the schedule they played. Despite facing all the strong offenses of the PAC-12, Stanford did not allow any team to score more than 28 points on the season, and the Michigan State offense is pedestrian. Stanford likes to run the ball, but the Michigan State defense allows just 2.69 yards per carry, so TDs in this game will be at a premium. Stanford is 7-0 to the UNDER in their last seven games vs. a winning team, while Michigan State is 18-7-1 to the UNDER in their last 26 overall, including 14-3 to the UNDER on grass in their last 17. Take the UNDER.
