Miami Ohio at Akron

The Miami, Ohio Red Hawks went 21 straight games without recording a victory, and that all finally came to an end last week with a squeak out win over UMass 42-41. Akron sure knows what this team is going through as they had a period of their own recently where the wins were impossible to find, but that is behind this team and they have definitely turned the corner. Akron is 3-2 and the two losses have come at the hands of Penn State and 5-0 Marshall. The defense has come around for this team faster than the offense as they held Pittsburgh to 10 points on the road, and just 21 to Penn State. The Zips allowed the pair of weak opponents on their schedule, Howard and Eastern Michigan, a combined 6 points. The Zips can defend, and Miami, Ohio's offense is better than last year, but that would be hard as they never scored more than 17 points in any game. This year the 10 points they scored vs. Eastern Kentucky, and 10 vs. Michigan shows that they can be stopped, and Akron certainly has the tools to do so. The Red Hawks will be flat as a pancake off their first win since game eight of 2012, and overall they are just 9-20-1 ATS in their last 30.
