Miami fell apart last season and carries runs of 2-4 SU and 1-7 ATS into this tough opener on the road. Making matters worse is a new QB for 2014, and the offensive line took a hit when Malcolm Bunche went to UCLA. Al Golden's team also has defensive problems allowing 30.5 points per game in 2012 and 26.8 points per game allowed in 2013. Last year Miami finished 12th in the ACC in points allowed, plus the Hurricanes allowed 5.8 yards per play, which ranked 12th in the conference. The Hurricanes were 90th nationally on third down conversions, which ranked last in the ACC, and had only 12 sacks in conference play. Making matters worse was a recent injury, losing junior DB Rayshawn Jenkins (fourth with 46 tackles) for the season in a scrimmage injury. He is a big loss for the depth of the secondary. The Hurricanes are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. They face a loaded Louisville team off a 12-1 capaign, a stocked lineup for new coach Bobby Petrino. A star-studded offensive line is headed by three All-Conference honorees, seniors Jamon Brown, John Miller, and center Jake Smith. The Cardinals are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 conference games. And this defense is dynamite, second in the nation allowing 12.2 points per game. The nation's fifth rated pass defense has three rock solid cornerbacks to work in junior Charles Gaines and senior Terrell Floyd. And the last game these teams played? It happened to be against each other in a bowl game. Miami lost 36-9 to Louisville (-5.5) in Russell Athletic Bowl December 28. Louisville had 554 yards, Miami just 174. This one will also be a one-sided win by the same team, now at home. Play Louisville.
