Memphis at East Carolina

The oddsmakers certainly underestimated the heart of this East Carolina team last week. They were in a shootout with a very good Tulsa team, never caved in and pulled the game out on the last play. It was one of the best college football games of week one. Unfortunately the same can't be said for Memphis, who was drubbed by 42 at the hands of Mississippi State. They gave up almost 600 yards to an offense that was completely one-dimensional a year ago. If East Carolina can put up 51 against Tulsa, they sure aren't going to have trouble scoring here. In addition, the Memphis offense was lethargic and unimpressive to boot. The Tigers didn't make it to 20 on seven different occasions last season, and they certainly did nothing to warrant consideration for scoring much here. The 49 by Miss St. is their seventh straight game allowing 30+. I see this one becoming a blowout early. Memphis is 2-9 ATS as an underdog dating back to last season. E. Carolina has covered the spread in 12 of the last 15 meetings and I like them to do it again here.
