Maryland's new coach this year is D.J. Durkin, former defensive coordinator at Michigan. The results have been impressive so far as the Terrapins have allowed an average of 14.5 points per game compared to 34 in 2015. The Terrapins are ranked #10 in the country in both total yards allowed and scoring defense. Meanwhile, Penn State's offense is #96 in total yards and #68 in points scored per game. Maryland's first three games went UNDER before it got a chance to pad its stats against hapless Purdue last week. The Boilermakers were held to 10 net rushing yards on 27 carries for a microscopic 0.4 yards per carry and the team was held to only 205 total yards of offense. Maryland accumulated 400 yards on the ground and only 87 through the air, while running back Ty Johnson scampered for 204 yards on just seven attempts for a 29.1 average. Penn State defeated Minnesota 29-26 in overtime and QB Trace McSorley completed only 46 percent of his passes, but he rushed for 73 yards on eight attempts. Maryland has gone UNDER in four of its last five road games. Look for that trend to continue with the much-improved Maryland defense. Take the UNDER.
