Marshall at East Carolina

Marshall had a bad recruiting year and it showed in last week's closer-than-expected 21-17 win over Albany, an FCS school, and the Thundering Herd were 23-point favorites. However, the Herd has the upper hand on East Carolina, which didn't look any better while getting routed by Michigan 30-3 with a last-second field goal saving the Pirates from a shutout. Cam Fancher was 28 of 35 for 268 yards for Marshall and Rasheen Ali ran for 137 yards on 7.6 yards per carry and it outgained the Great Danes 413-300. East Carolina tried two quarterbacks against the Wolverines and Mason Garcia and Alex Finn combined for 17 of 29 for 132 yards with an interception. Marshall has won six in a row dating to last season and the Pirates lost four of their top offensive leaders from last season and the game against Michigan went UNDER by 20.5 points. Marshall is 9-2 UNDER its past 11 games and neither team showed much offense in Week 1, but the Thundering Herd have the edge on defense and at the quarterback position.
