Marshall won its first seven games before losing to Rice and UAB, but the Thundering Herd is 6-1 both straight up and ATS in bowl games since coach Doc Holliday took over in 2010. Marshall freshman QB Grant Wells leads Conference USA in passing yards with 219.7 per game, and touchdown passes (18). The Herd defense, of course, will have to slow down Buffalo running back Jaret Patterson, who accumulated 1,072 yards and 19 touchdowns in only six games. However, it can take a cue from Ball State, which held Patterson to just 47 yards on 18 carries in the MAC championship game and Patterson (knee) is probable for this game. The Bulls feasted on its conference bottom feeders and Marshall arguably is the toughest opponent they'll face all season. Marshall is 6-1 ATS its last seven neutral-site games and 11-4 ATS its last 15 as an underdog. Buffalo is 1-7 ATS at neutral-site games and the Bulls have covered only two of their last seven non-conference games. Play Marshall as a Max Play in the Camellia Bowl.
