MUSIC CITY BOWL - Northwestern is favored but heads down south to Tennessee for this Music City bowl. The Wildcats are riding a seven-game win streak, but it was against weak competition. Three of the games went to overtime and they were favored in all the games, outside of a 39-31 win over Michigan State as a +2 dog. In that game, Spartans sophomore QB Brian Lewerke shredded them for 445 yards and four TDs. Northwestern lost three of its first five games, getting blown out by Duke (41-17) and Penn State (31-7), while also losing to Wisconsin (33-24). They face a Kentucky squad hungry for a good effort and a Bowl win. Coach Mark Stoops helped save his job by making a Bowl last season, a loss, but he could use a victory to quell any naysayers. Kentucky has plenty of offensive punch at #56 in the nation with 169.8 yard rushing per game behind sophomore sensation Benny Snell Jr. (1,318 yards, 5.1 ypc). The Wildcats won seven games playing a tough SEC schedule, including a pair of wins as a dog at South Carolina (23-13) and at Vandy (44-21). Northwestern won its Bowl game last year, but this one means far more to Kentucky. Take Kentucky on the moneyline.
