Kansas at Coastal Carolina

Coastal Carolina won last season's meeting, 38-23, as a 4.5-point underdog, and what a difference a year makes as the Chanticleers are huge favorites this time around. That is because Kansas comes off an 0-9 season straight up and 1-7-1 ATS in what was one of the worst performances in college football history. Not surprisingly, Les Miles was fired after his team gave up 46.0 points per game, and new coach Lance Leipold comes over from Buffalo where he had much success, but he faces a big job trying to resurrect the Kansas program. The Jayhawks do return 19 starters, but that might be the worst news of all considering how they played in 2020. The Jayhawks did manage a win over FCS South Dakota last week, but they didn't cover as an 11-point favorite. Coastal Carolina covered a 32-point spread with a 52-14 shellacking of The Citadel for its 13th win in its past 14 games. The Chanticleers went undefeated in the regular season before losing, 37-34, in overtime in the Cure Bowl. Grayson McCall completed 68.8% of his passes in 2020 and finished 16 of 19 for 262 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions, and the Chanticleers racked up 262 rushing yards against the Bulldogs. Kansas is 6-20-1 ATS its past 27 non-conference games and 20-42-1 ATS its past 63 road games. Take Coastal Carolina.
