Hawaii at San Diego State

San Diego State may not be an exciting team to watch as they rely on their elite RB Donnell Pumphrey to do most of the heavy lifting on offense, as well as a defense that has gotten better over the previous season four years. The Aztecs allowed 33.6 points per game in 2013, 20.7 ppg in 2014, 18.9 ppg a season ago, and a stingy 17 ppg so far this season. That stingy defense has gotten steadily better, and has allowed just 26 total points over their last four contests, and an amazing 6.5 ppg in conference tilts! Hawaii has been a bit better than advertised, but have been outgained in their last three games. San Diego State runs the ball about 50 times a game, and doesn't generate quick drives with long passes. They prefer a grind-it-out style that isn't conducive to a lot of possessions or points. The fact that the defense is playing lights out, means they will need to score into the 40s to push this OVER the top. Their 12-3 mark to the UNDER in their last 15 vs. a losing team, where they average just three points per game, says the UNDER is the way to go in this one.
