What a difference a coach makes as Georgia Southern went from being a perennial option offense team to finishing #4 in the country in passing after Clay Helton took over this year. The Eagles still struggled losing five of their last eight games and had to defeat Appalachian State in overtime to become bowl-eligible. They had gone 6-3 UNDER before that wild 51-48 affair against the Mountaineers. Buffalo enjoyed a five-game win streak in midseason before losing three straight and then beating Akron 23-22 in the season finale for its sixth win. The Bulls average 29.0 points and allow 27.2 per game and they allow 216.2 passing yards. Buffalo QB Cole Snyder has thrown for 2,765 yards and 17 touchdowns with eight interceptions for a 123.5 QB rating. The Falcons have two good running backs in Mike Washington (627 yards) and Ron Cook Jr. (642 yards). Coincidentally, Georgia Southern quarterback Kyle Vantrease transferred after starting for three years at Buffalo and he has thrown for 3,896 yards this season with 25 TDs and 15 picks. The Bulls are 7-3-1 ATS their past 11 non-conference games and they are 7-3 UNDER following a win. The teams have combined to go 10-2 UNDER in December and Georgia Southern has stayed UNDER four straight neutral-site games. The Bulls have won and covered their last two bowl games in 2019 and 2020 and they have enough offensive weapons to keep this one close. Take Buffalo and the UNDER.
