Florida State at Wake Forest

Florida State took it on the chin last week to defending champion Clemson, but this is still a terrific offense. Florida State QBs James Blackman and Alex Hornibrook have combined for 15 TDs, and five picks on an offense that averages 400 yards and 30 points. They are an underdog to a Wake Forest team that they crushed last season, 38-17, with an edge in yards 485-369. FSU Coach Willie Taggart is 33-18 ATS in road games he has coached. Wake Forest has had a soft schedule and was exposed last week in a 62-59 loss to Louisville as the defense allowed 520 yards. The Demon Deacons are on a 4-9 spread run at home, 5-11-1 ATS on field-turf, plus 9-22 ATS against defensive teams that allow 425+ yards per game. Play Florida State. Also take the UNDER in this one. While scoring 35.5 points per game at home this season, the Seminoles have put up 19 per game on the road. Their defense has improved of late. After giving up 36, 44 and 31 in their first three games, they allowed 24 to Louisville and 13 to NC State, albeit giving up a lot to Clemson (but that is Clemson). Wake is off a terrible defensive effort vs. Louisville, which is affecting this total, but that was anomoly for them as they have allowed 24 or less in four of their six games. Wake head coach Dave Clawson is 27-12 UNDER in his career in home conference games. He's also 21-7 UNDER at home in late season play. Back the road dog here and take the UNDER.
