Florida State improved to 5-7 in coach Mike Norvell's second year and the Seminoles expect to make a bigger leap this season with 18 starters returning. The Seminoles demolished Duquesne as expected 47-7 last week with Jordan Travis completing 11 of 15 for 207 yards and three running backs ran for at least 100 yards, including Treshaun Ward (127), Trey Benson (105) and Lawrence Toafili (101). Travis had nine TD passes and just one interception his last six games in 2021. The Seminoles were in the top 10 in red zone defense last year and the overall defense will be even better this season and their last five games went UNDER in 2021. LSU went UNDER four of its last six games and the Tigers averaged 27 points per game for the season, which is 21 fewer than their national championship team two years before. Brian Kelly will have 11 starters returning in his first year as LSU coach plus 15 transfers. Arizona State transfer Jayden Daniels will likely start at quarterback although Kelly hasn't announced it yet. Florida State has the advantage of having a game in hand while LSU is 1-4 ATS its past five non-conference games. The Seminoles are 19-8 UNDER versus the SEC and 6-2 UNDER their past eight September games. It will take at least a game or two for the Tigers to get used to Brian Kelly's offense and a new quarterback. Take Florida State and the UNDER.
