There won't be any surprises here with East Carolina in terms of what they will try to do. They are going to do as they have all season - put the ball in the air on almost every down and try to outscore the deficiencies of their defense. This is a team that put the ball in the air 568 times during the season and as the season went on, they threw even more. It makes for a lot of clock stopping and a lot of points. In the last five weeks of the regular season, their games average an astounding 94.4 points per game. That's 26 points above what looks like a high total here, but this total pales in contrast to the reality of what this team is all about. Maryland certainly isn't shy about scoring either, topping the 60-point mark twice this year. They put up 38+ in five of their games. They have been checked by good defenses, but have gone wild vs. weak ones, so expect to see the scoreboard ringing in what I think could be the highest scoring of all the Bowl games this season. East Carolina has sprung quite a few surprises as a dog of less than 10, where they are 6-1 ATS in their last seven, and 11-4 ATS in their last 15. The Terps this season showed vulnerability to the aerial assault they will see here. After a game where they allowed 280 in the air, Maryland is 1-9 ATS in their next game. I like East Carolina and the OVER in this one.
