WALK-ON'S INDEPENDENCE BOWL - Temple doesn't have its coach for this game as Geoff Collins left to take the Georgia Tech job. Ed Foley, the assistant head coach, will serve as interim coach. Foley also was the interim head coach in 2016 after Matt Rhule left for Baylor. It was Foley who guided the Owls in the Military Bowl, which they lost 34-26, to Wake Forest as a 10-point favorite. Temple has played an easy schedule and suffered losses to Villanova and Buffalo as a favorite each time. Duke has played a much tougher ACC schedule, posting wins over bowl teams Army, Northwestern, Baylor, Georgia Tech, and Miami. Junior quarterback Daniel Jones (17 TDs, 7 INTS) leads the offense and has received some interest from NFL scouts. The Blue Devils are 7-2 ATS against winning teams and crushed Northern Illinois, 36-14, in a bowl one year ago. Duke has won two straight bowls, covered four straight bowls, and holds all the cards in this one. Play Duke.
