Clemson returned seven defensive starters from its 2016 championship team and was expected to have a slight falloff. Instead the Tigers are ranked third in the country, allowing only 9.2 points per game and third in yards allowed. Virginia Tech has given up 311.2 yards per game to rank #28 and the Hokies are #6 in points allowed (10.2 per game). The Hokies return eight defensive starters from a squad that gave up 23 points per game in 2016. Clemson is 8-2 UNDER its last 10 September games and Virginia Tech is 18-8 UNDER its last 26 conference games. Also, six of the last eight meetings have stayed UNDER.  Clemson has held three opponents to seven points or fewer this season, including its 34-7 win over Boston College last week that stayed UNDER by 12 points. The Eagles were held to just 238 total yards and 2.9 yards per carry. Clemson QB Kelly Bryant was 17 of 26 for only 140 yards and an interception. Virginia Tech already has two shutouts this season, including 38-0 against Old Dominion that went UNDER by 15 points. Look for a low scoring contest and take the UNDER.
