Central Michigan at Akron

Central Michigan lost a close one 17-16 to Ball State when the Cardinals kicked the game-winning field goal with 2:49 left. The Chippewas outgained Ball State 340-236 and it was their best showing defensively against an FBS school this season. Akron is arguably the worst team in the country as the Zips have yet to win a game in five tries against FBS teams and they have allowed an average of 40.8 points. The Zips come off a 55-34 loss at Ohio while yielding 561 total yards, including 427 through the air. Akron QB DJ Irons finished 43 of 54 for 418 yards, but somehow managed to not throw a TD pass while being intercepted once. This is the first meeting since 2019 when CMU won 45-24.
