The Cal Bears have one of the most explosive offenses in the country, but they also have one of the worst defenses. Texas may finally have a QB that can get the Horns back up to a level expected in their storied program history. The Horns have turned to redshirt freshman Jerrod Heard. Heard infused a struggling offense, on his way to a pair of TD strikes, and 96 yards on the ground, and will be a handful for the Bears porous defense to control. Texas has enough defense in this one to slow the Bears attack, and with a revived offense, the defense, often on the field for long periods, may improve because of it. Heard is a dynamic playmaker, something that has been missing from Texas for several years, and he will be the difference maker. Cal has never beaten Texas, and this one looks like a coin flip to me, so taking a TD is certainly the valued side. Grab the points on Texas.
