Coastal Carolina at South Carolina

The SEC is a rigged place to do business every game, but the South Carolina Gamecocks have some pieces in place to surprise. They enter off a shocking Bowl win over Michigan to conclude 2017. Will Muschamp has had offensive issues since he has been here, and his fourth OC is now aboard in Bryan McClendon. McClendon promises to bring in a very up-tempo offense, one that will run many more plays. He is in a good place as almost all the offense returns in tact, and a good place to start vs. a Coastal Carolina team that won't have the speed and depth to contain it. Coastal Carolina returns their QB, and a solid running game, and several disgruntled P-5 transfers to give them a few pieces to work with. The issue is defense. Carolina gave up 34 points per game last season. Four returning starters going against a team destined to play fast is going to be ugly. South Carolina is out to prove that they can score quickly and have a punching bag to prove it in Game 1. Play on the OVER.
