The Cougars were the talk of the early season. They had a Heisman hopeful QB in Taysom Hill, a 4-0 start, and a schedule that appeared to be navigable all the way to 12-0. That all changed in game five when Hill was lost for the season and BYU went from 4-0 to 4-4 over their last eight games. Hill played just four and a partial game, and came with 52 yards of leading the team in rushing, so the running attack has been greatly diminished. Then they lost top RB Jamaal Williams, and that left them depleted in the backfield with a second string QB running the offense. Memphis has lost just three games all season, with a pair of them were against Mississippi and UCLA. They come into this one on a six game winning streak, and it has all been about the defense. The Tigers' D has limited their last six opponents to a total of 80 points or 16.6 points per game. They even held Ole Miss to 24 and only Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas did better. The Tigers own a 19-7 mark to the UNDER in their last 26 vs. a winning team. BYU has had a similar path vs. winning teams as they have played to a 20-8 mark to the UNDER in their last 28 vs. a winning squad. Since the arrival of Bronco Mendenhall, the Cougars are 16-6 UNDER in expected close games (line of +3 to -3) and 24-14 UNDER as an underdog. Take the UNDER in this one.
