Many had pegged this BYU team to finish the season at 12-0 and wonder if it would be good enough to make the Final Four. That all changed when do-everything QB Taysom Hill went down with a season-ending injury. That was followed by the loss of their top RB in Jamaal Williams. It took awhile, but reserve QB Christian Stewert has gotten better and his numbers show it. He is throwing for seven yards per attempt compared to Hill's 7.4 and has 17 TDs to just five INTs on the season. Cal can score, but the edge here is the defense for BYU, which simply is equipped to generate more stops. Cal has won just one time in their last six games, which tends to wear on a team's confidence. They also have allowed 31 points or more in each of their last nine, and 44.1 points per game on average over the same period. Cal is now just 8-23 ATS after a loss as the confidence dips lower and lower. Play on BYU.
