This will be a matchup of offense vs. defense. The Spartans rolled-up 35.2 points per game, while the Falcons’ stop unit limited opponents to 15.8 ppg. Except for Virginia Tech, no one got to 35 on them. The Falcons’ offense was sluggish to start the season, but after being shutout by the Hokies, they seemed to come to life and scored 21 points or more in every game thereafter. While they aren't great in any one area on offense, they are pretty good, and are balanced throwing and running effectively in equal doses. The Spartans’ offense was a bright spot, but the schedule was suspect. Their top three games vs. teams that could play a little defense were against Utah State, BYU, and Stanford saw that 35.2 ppg average take a big dip to 21.3 ppg. That makes them a risky play as a TD favorite vs. a team that is more than capable of getting to 21 and keeping them in that same area. I’m on Bowling Green.
