Bowling Green at Akron

The Falcons lost a lot of pieces from the defensive side of last year's MAC Championship team. It has taken them some time, but the defense, which allowed 211 points at 52.8 points per game in their first four games vs. FBS opponents, has improved considerably over their last three games to allow just 24.7 ppg. While the defense has improved, the Falcons have scored 30 or more points in six of their eight games on the season. The Zips got off to a 4-2 start, which included a huge win at Pittsburgh. But, Akron has dropped two straight games to a pair of teams with losing records on the season, as their passing game has been horrible. The Zips have scored 21 points or less in five of their seven games vs. FBS teams. With an improving Bowling Green defense and a strong Bowling Green offense, the Zips are going to struggle to play catch-up football if they get behind. Bowling Green has been very good in a game after allowing less than 170 passing yards as they are 27-9-1 ATS in their last 37. The Zips have been a poor cover team in conference play where they are 17-35-1 ATS in their last 56, and own a 4-10 ATS mark in their last 14 at home.
