New Year's Eve Bowl play will kickoff with an early match up between the Arizona Wildcats and the Boston College Eagles. Boston College went from a 3-4 team at mid-season to a team that won four of their last five games, with the only loss by 3 points. This is a vastly improved team, and one that can shorten games with the top back in the country in Andre Williams. Williams went for 2,102 yards on the season at 6.4 yards per carry and punched across 17 TD's along the way. Remember, he ran for 150 yards vs. Florida State, and BC played the Noles to within 14 points, which was 13 points closer than any other team. The Wildcats closed poorly, losing three of their last four games, and has been an over-rated team all season as they covered three of their last 10, often playing below expectations. Boston College has a great Bowl pedigree as the Eagles are 11-6 ATS in their last 17 Bowl games, and have won straight up in three of their last five as a dog. Arizona will lack the motivation here once again, while BC does their thing and grinds out at least the cover. Arizona is just 15-31 ATS in their last 46 games as a favorite in this range (3.5 to 10 points). And, Rich Rod coached teams are 26-43 ATS vs. winning teams and 1-9 ATS on the road vs. good rushing teams like BC (teams that rush for 4.75+ yards per carry). Play on Boston College.
