Well the good news here is that one Top 10 team will NOT lose. In the craziest year in college football in recent memory, the top teams continue to drop like flies. Last week it was #2 USF's turn. Will #2 fall again this week? We think not! The Eagles have had 12 days to prepare for this huge matchup in Blacksburg. Virginia Tech has looked good of late but let us not forget their 48-7 loss to LSU on September 8. How good can a team be if they lose by 41 points? Yes, LSU is a great team, but 41 points is too hard to ignore in our book. Since then, they have played four cupcakes (Ohio, William & Mary, N. Carolina and Duke). And, they needed an INT return for a TD to beat lowly E. Carolina in their opener. The only two tests for this team have been LSU and Clemson two weeks ago. They final score vs. Clemson is misleading. The Hokies got a defensive touchdown and two special teams touchdowns in that game. The Clemson offense outscored Virginia Tech in that game. So, out of seven games, they beat one good opponent and even that result is somewhat suspect. Boston College's schedule has also been light but they have beaten everyone by double digits, are scoring 35 ppg, and they have a legitimate Heisman candidate tossing the rock. Virginia Tech is coming off two straight conference games and under Frank Beamer, this team is 5-16 ATS off two straight double-digit wins over conference rivals. The better team is getting points in this game and that's always a nice situation. We'll back the live dog here.
